Welcome to the original railway hotel. Since 1860 we’ve been creating wonderful experiences for discerning travellers, situated at the gateway to Chester we provide a welcome and stylish escape, a place to rest from your journey, and a luxurious and well-connected base to make the most of Chester and beyond.
The hotel is famous for its rich heritage, stunning public areas serving great food, afternoon teas and signature cocktails, with its hidden gem – the terrace, a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city.
Built opposite Chester station to serve first-class rail passengers, this hotel has an illustrious past. This magnificent brick and stucco Italianate building was said to be the first skyscraper of its time. Since opening in 1860, its hosted guests such as Charles Dickens, Cecil Rhodes and Lillie Langtry.
All of our bedrooms have complimentary Wi-Fi a TV and 24-hour room service. The hotel also has 8 conference rooms to choose from, ideal for any event, meeting, or wedding.

The hotel day starts from hour 16:00 and ends at 11:00.

For hotel guests, situated next to the hotel is a pay and display car park. Details of costing and parking procedures are listed below for your information and are available in the car park. Please note that the car park does not belong to the hotel. Car parking spaces are subject to availability. Monday to Thursday; GBP 10 per night Friday to Sunday GBP 16 per night; GBP 12 per 24 hours.
£12 per 24 hours, payable on the machine in carpark or using the QR code which is located at the reception desk.
