One thing about adventures is they tend to work up a hefty appetite, so it’s fortunate that Lainston House is full of opportunities for feasting. The Avenue restaurant, named after the stunning avenue of lime trees leading up to the house, serves up a tantalising tasting menu with a BBC MasterChef: The Professionals champion at the helm.
Meanwhile, The Wellhouse is one of the only UK restaurantsevery dish is cooked by woodfire. Its historic, rustic-luxe atmosphere and deep, smoky flavours make for a truly unforgettable dining experience. Oh and if that wasnt enough to whet your appetite, you can get adventurous with your culinary skills too at Season cookery school.
Perfectly located in the heart of Hampshire just 10 minutes from the centre of Winchester, Lainston House makes a great base for walking or cycling the South Downs Way, visiting Goodwood, Broadlands, Carfest and also staying the night before you head to Southampton toyour cruise.

Cosy room. Most of these rooms are located in the Chudleigh Court area, with two rooms in the main house. They areen-suite and have a shower and bath combined. ;
Comfy. All Deluxe Double Rooms have walk-in showers. These country house hotel rooms are mostly located in the Chudleigh Court area and offer additional living space. A cot can be accommodated in this room for no additional charge. ;
Heritage Junior Suite. This spacious and individually designed room features rich fabrics and beautiful furniture. Wtih underfloor heating, the large bathroom has a separate walk-in shower with rain bars and either a roll-top bath or a spa bath. ;
Heritage Family Junior Suite. Located in the fishing wing, the family junior suites are open plan and come with two queen-size double beds. There is a seating area and desk. Each room is decorated individually and have en-suite bathrooms featuring a rain bar shower and either a roll top bath or a spa bath. ;
Wolvesey. The original master suite offers double aspect views of the Avenue and South Lawn, a lounge area and a king-size bed. Bathroom with a roll top bath and Aquavision TV. The lounge also has a dining table, plasma TV with surround sound system, a DVD player and Nespresso-style coffee machine. ;
Delft. The Classic Suite offers views of the lime trees up to the property. Guests can enjoy period features such as high ceilings and large windows in the rooms. The suite also features a king-size bed. ;
Loggia Suite. These suites have separate lounges and access to the garden. The Chapel suite features a contemporary design, and the Garden suite features a traditional furnishing. Both have plasma TVs, DVD players and Nespresso-style coffee machines. The bathrooms both have Jacuzzi® baths and Aquavision TVs. ;
Four Poster Suite. This open plan suite features a hand carved four poster bed, seating and dining area. The four poster suits have either a spa bath or roll top bath. Every room is individually decorated. These rooms are located in the fishing wing and stable areas. ;
Luxe. The Superior Double Rooms are located mostly in the main house and many feature spa baths or rain bar showers. ;
Luxe with a view. Offering free toiletries and bathrobes, this double room includes a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, a bath and a bidet. Featuring a balcony with garden views, this double room also offers a coffee machine and a flat-screen TV.
